About us

The Tūrangi Volunteer Fire Brigade responds to a wide range of emergencies every year around the Southern Lake Taupō area. From house fires to motor vehicle crashes and everything in between, our team of volunteers are there when our community needs us.

We're your neighbours, friends, and whānau, dedicated to protecting our town and the surrounding southern lake area around the clock.

However, we do more than just respond to emergencies. We lead the way when it comes to promoting fire safety and educating our community by visiting kura (schools), marae, and kāinga (homes).

We believe in working hand-in-hand with our community, sharing knowledge and resources to help everyone stay safe from fire.

From providing Home Fire Safety Visits to encouraging the motu (country) to push the button on their smoke alarm to the tune of the Sugarbabes, we’re always finding ways to interact and engage with our community.

We're proud to work alongside a range of organisations and agencies, from Hato Hone St John and New Zealand Police to Taupō District Council, because keeping Tūrangi safe is a team effort!

We respond to a wide variety of emergencies including:

Structure Fires

Vegetation Fires

Medical Emergencies

Motor Vehicle Crashes

Hazardous Materials

Natural Disasters
